One of
the important cultural significance of Pokhara is the BHAIRAV NAACH which dance is famous in the NEWARI
COMMUNITY. At first, this naach used to be presented in the community, society of Pokhara in the duration of 12 years
but in course of time it has been reduced to 6 years. Though this naach famous for newari community of BHAKTAPUR and POKHARA, now the BHAIRAV NAACH of POKHARA
known as best than its origin i.e. BHAKTAPUR.
There
is thought about this bhairav naach that it had been brought here in Pokhara by the peoples who are migrated from BHAKTAPUR. At first this dance had been presented in the dynasty of MALLA KING.
This naach used to be presented till now totally by the TANTRIK BIDHI PURWAK. In this
dance, there are 12 God and Goddess in term wise; they are:- BHAIRAV, KAALI, INDRAYENI,BARAAH,
KUMARI, BISNUVI, BRAHMAYENI, GANGAJU, GANESH, DAGEENI, BHUCHCHHA AND KAWANG. Among them BHAIRAV is the head of all who commanded to all and gives instructions as well as orders. And below there are theirs
